Meta implements power trading to support AI infrastructure
25.11.2025
Meta, one of the world's leading technology companies, announced the launch of its own power trading platform designed to ensure stable and efficient operation of its artificial intelligence systems. This solution was a response to the rapid growth of energy consumption as a result of AI infrastructure scaling and increasing data processing volumes.Experts estimate that today global data centers consume more than 2% of all electricity generated, and this share continues to grow. The introduction of Meta's own energy trading system will allow the company not only to reduce operating costs, but also to increase its resilience to fluctuations in electricity prices on global markets. The platform will use forecasting algorithms and automated transactions to procure energy during periods of low prices and reduce load during peak demand hours. This approach promotes smarter resource allocation and reduces carbon emissions. Meta also said it intends to expand its collaboration with renewable energy suppliers to ensure its AI services are environmentally sustainable. The introduction of new energy management tools is expected to enable Meta to improve data center efficiency by 10-15% over the next year. This will be a significant step towards reducing its carbon footprint and supporting global sustainability initiatives.
